Creating an exam from the Excel template
Build an exam with its passages and questions in Excel, preview it, and import it in one step.
What it does
The exam template lets you write an exam - its settings, passages and questions - in Excel and import it in one step.
Steps
1. Open Exam Builder and choose "Download template".
2. Fill the sheets:
- Instructions: how to fill the file.
- Exam_Settings: the exam's title and settings, the same fields as the exam form.
- Passages: one row per passage, each with a reference you choose.
- Questions: one row per question - passage_ref (optional), stem, option_a to option_d, correct (A, B, C or D), explanation, points, skill, difficulty, track and domain.
3. Back in Exam Builder choose "Import from Excel", upload the file and check the preview.
4. Confirm to create the exam. Nothing is created before you confirm, and everything is saved together.
Rules
Use an .xlsx file of up to 2 MB. Cells with formulas are refused. Problems are reported by sheet, row and column. Without a track or domain a question is General English; give an aerospace domain to make it Aerospace ESP. Imported questions are private drafts in your own question bank until you change them.
